There is no helmet that can guarantee ultimate protection against all foreseeable high and low speed impacts. For optimal protection however, the helmet must be of a proper fit with the retention system securely fastened under the wearer’s chin. This is to ensure that the helmet does not slip or move unexpectedly while riding.

You can do this by pulling the chinstrap after putting the helmet on securely (be sure to pull on the chinstraps only and not the chinstrap covers, which may cause damage on the fabric). Upon pulling, if the helmet still feels loose, it is too big for the wearer.

All helmets are designed to protect you from only ONE impact. After an impact, the helmet’s liners become compacted and loses its impact-absorbing qualities. Even if your helmet appears minimally damaged externally, it is crucial to note that internally, its protective qualities have already been compromised - replace your helmet after an impact.

Avoid using hot or salted water, chemicals such as benzene, gasoline, glass cleaner or other solvents. These elements may alter or weaken the protective qualities of your helmet. To clean your helmet, dampen a soft cloth in a mild solution (mix 5 drops of mild soap with warm water) and wipe accordingly. Finally, simply rinse off the mild soap with a wet cloth.

Modifications or alterations can significantly weaken a helmet’s structure. Actions such as drilling of holes, external additions or removal of existing helmet components may expose the wearer to a host of unexpected dangers. Be sure to also use only approved Gracshaw helmet parts.

Avoid handling the helmet recklessly (e.g. riding with the helmet hanging from the helmet holder, leaving the helmet dangling from the mirror or sitting on or subjecting the helmet to excessive impact by throwing or dropping the helmet). It is also important to keep the helmet away from intense sunlight, high temperatures and harsh chemicals.

• Cracks or impact damage - stop using immediately if cracks or excessive damage is found.
• Shield and visor screws - retighten if necessary
• Component condition - plastic components are subject to wear after prolonged use. Replace if found worn.

Excessively scratched or stained visors will impair visibility. Regularly clean your visor with mild soap water to ensure optimal cleanliness and visibility. Replace with a new visor if it is no longer cleanable or unsafe for use.

Please refrain from repainting your helmet. Paint solutions contain chemicals such as thinner or other agents which may cause damage or weaken the construction of your helmet.

In order to provide you optimal protection, helmets may also shield you from certain visions or sounds from your surrounding. This is especially true for full-face or jet type helmets where the rider may be caught unaware of sudden weather changes. A sudden rain or drop in temperature for instance, may cause fogging and affect the rider’s visibility. Maintain a constant, high level of alertness to these changes.
